Immaculata Drops Doubleheader To Neumann

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University's softball team fell to Neumann College, 10-2 and 14-6, in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Monday, April 7.

In game one, Sara Holleran and Missy Hopely recorded the only hits for Immaculata as Angela Sebasto tossed a complete game two-hitter for the Knights. Val Rutt-Guerriere suffered the loss for the Mighty Macs after she allowed 10 runs in seven innings.

In game two, Melissa Fetter went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI, including a homerun in the fourth inning. Megan Gallagher, Carol Mastrosante and Hopely each amassed two hits.

The Mighty Macs led 4-3 after scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. Jackie Finkbohner walked and two batters later, Fetter tripled to score Finkbohner. Mastrosante then singled to push Fetter across the plate.

Neumann scored three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to outdistance itself.

Fetter took the loss in the circle in the second game, allowing 14 runs over seven innings and struck out five.

Immaculata will be home on Wednesday, April 9, when it takes on Penn State Berks at 3 p.m.
