ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - The Immaculata University softball team fell to Eastern University, 6-2 and 5-4, in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference doubleheader on Tuesday, April 15.
The Mighty Macs fell to 3-15 overall and 3-11 in the PAC, while the Eagles improved to 15-14 overall and 9-5 in the conference.
In the first game, Carol Mastrosante collected three hits and knocked in one run for the Mighty Macs. Jackie Finkbohner went 2-for-3, while Melissa Fetter drove in Immaculata's run in the top of the third inning, while also crossing the plate herself in the top of the seventh.
Alissa Brubaker went 4-for-4 with one RBI and scored two runs to pace the Eagles. Stephanie Weaver was 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored, while Raychel Weis and Megan Favazza each recorded two hits.
Valerie Rutt-Guerriere suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned), while Weis earned the victory, alllowing eight hits and striking out four.
In the second game of the twinbill, Finkbohner again collected two hits and one RBI, while Rutt-Guerriere recorded one hit and two RBI. Natalie Yodis amassed one hit, one RBI and scored one run.
Ashley Lewis allowed four runs and struck out five for Eastern to earn the win, while Fetter allowed five unearned runs and struck out two to take the loss.
Immaculata travels to Centenary on Friday, April 18, at 3 p.m.
