Immaculata Comeback Falls Short Against Neumann, 75-70

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Immaculata University's comeback attempt fell short against Neumann College, 75-70, on Monday night in the Colonial States Athletic Conference opener.

Trailing by eight, 69-61, with 3:45 remaining in the contest, Immaculata went on a 9-3 run drawing within two points, 72-70, of Neumann with 35 ticks left on the clock. The Mighty Macs sent the Knights to the foul line six times during the final 16 seconds in an attempt to get off a last second shot for the victory, but Neumann's 3-for-6 effort from the line in the closing seconds was all the Knights needed to seal the win.

Immaculata (1-3, 0-1 CSAC) placed three players in double digits in the scoring column, led by Kyle Finklea's 20 points. Finklea added five rebounds and four assists in his effort. Sean Fordham chipped in 14 points, including a 4-for-4 effort from the charity stripe, and a team-high eight rebounds. Darnell Forde was the other Mighty Macs in double figures with 10 points, three steals, two blocks and two assists.

Patrick O'Connor led Neumann (2-3, 1-0 CSAC) with 11 points and six rebounds. Na'Sheed Linton tallied 10 points and three boards. Eli Hitchens led the Knights on the glass with a team-best 12 rebounds and added nine points.

Both teams were plagued with poor shooting from the foul line. Immaculata was 18 of 31 (.581) while Neumann was just 22-for-35 (.629).

Immaculata returns to the floor next Monday, Dec. 8, hosting Marywood in its final league contest of 2008. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
