IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata's men's basketball team began the 2008-09 season with a 67-61 victory over visiting Rowan on Tuesday night at Alumnae Hall.

Feeding off the pre-game celebration honoring its league championship a season ago, Immaculata begins the new slate 1-0. Rowan falls to 0-2 on the young season.

Darnell Forde led the Mighty Macs with a game-high 22 points, grabbed four rebounds and swiped four steals. Kyle Finklea totaled 21 points and dished out four assists. Sean Fordham was the other Mighty Mac in double figures with 10 points. John Boyd led Immaculata on the glass with five rebounds and chipped in six points.

Kevin Darby led the Profs with 17 points and Dan Reddan added 12 points. Tyson Hartnett chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds while Billy Care was Rowan's leading rebounder with eight.

Immaculata takes on Connecticut College on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. in the NYU Tip-Off Tournament. The Mighty Macs will face either NYU or Baruch on Sunday at either 1 p.m. or 3 p.m.
