READING, Pa. -Immaculata increased its winning streak to four games with a 3-0 victory over host Penn States Berks in a non-conference women's soccer match on Thursday afternoon.
Immaculata (6-7-2) recorded its fifth shutout win of the season in the Mighty Macs final non-league contest of the 2008 season.
Anne Marie Popgoshev banged home her third goal of the season on a pass from Kimberly Steinke just 2:41 into the contest. That tally gave Immaculata a 1-0 halftime advantage that it would never relinquish.
In the second half, Popgoshev added her second tallied of the afternoon in the 52nd minute, and Athena Campbell scored at the 62-minute mark on a ball from Steinke to put the tilt out of reach for the hosts.
Jessica Gaburo recorded two saves to earn her sixth win of the season. Cassidy Dawson played the first 71:39 and made 13 saves in the losing effort for the Nittany Lions. Rebecca Ulrich played the final 18:21 for Berks and did not record a save.
Immaculata will be back in action Saturday afternoon taking on Marywood at 2 p.m.
