Volleyball Rallies To Down Notre Dame, 3-1

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Junior Jayme Lenosky and freshman Terri Reynolds were each one off their season-bests for kills to power the Immaculata volleyball team to a 3-1 victory (25-27, 26-24, 25-22, 25-17) over the visiting College of Notre Dame Thursday evening.

Immaculata ups its record to 5-7 overall, in addition to improving its Colonial States Athletic Conference mark to 2-2, surpassing its league win total from last season. The Gators drop to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Lenosky registered 16 kills, while Reynolds tallied a double-double, her third of the season, with 11 kills and 10 digs for the Mighty Macs. Nicole Preziuso also recorded a double-double with 10 kills and a team-high 13 digs. The Mighty Macs recorded 48 kills as a team, matching its season-best mark eclipsed a week ago at Rosemont.

Immaculata also placed two other players in double figures in digs. Alexis Erazo made 11 digs and a season-high four kills. Courtney Sahm recorded 10 digs and added five kills.

The Mighty Macs jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in the first set before the Gators went on an 11-1 spurt to eventually take a 12-6 advantage. Notre Dame would further extend its lead to make the score 17-9, but Immaculata would come back to knot the score at 23-all. The score would again be tied at 25-25 before Catherine Subrizi recorded a kill to hand the Gators set-point and an Immaculata attack error gave Notre Dame the opening frame, 27-25.

In the second game, however, it was the College of Notre Dame that opened the set up by taking a 10-5 advantage before Immaculata won four straight points, including two Reynolds' service aces, to narrow the Gators' margin to 10-9. The Gators again pushed their advantage to 14-9 on three straight kills from Kimberly Myers, but the Mighty Macs rallied to tie the score at 14-all. Neither team would let the other gain an advantage greater that three points, 19-16, IU. With Notre Dame holding a 24-23 lead, Preziuso came in with a kill for Immaculata to save off set-point and notched the score for the final time at 24-24. Two consecutive Lenosky kills put the second set away in favor of the Mighty Macs.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair which featured 12 ties and six lead changes. With the two teams deadlocked at 22-22, Immaculata won the next three points on kills by Preziuso and Reynolds, and a block by Reynolds and Sahm closed out the third set to give the Mighty Macs a 2-1 advantage.

In game four, the Mighty Macs trailed in the early going and were down by one, 3-2, before a kill by Lenosky knotted the score at 3-3. The Mighty Macs won the next six straight points to take the 9-3 advantage. Immaculata boosted its lead to 21-10 and locked up the match 25-17.

The Gators' Subrizi recorded a double-double with a game-high 24 kills and 12 digs. Myers finished with 16 kills and 11 digs, and Christina Kudrna contributed 45 assists and 13 digs for Notre Dame.

Immaculata returns to action next Monday when it thosts Rutgers-Camden at 7 p.m.
