The Immaculata University men's basketball team defeated visiting Misericordia University, 67-58, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action Saturday afternoon, January 26, in Alumnae Hall. The victory improves the Mighty Macs to 13-4 overall and keeps them unblemished at 8-0 in the PAC.
Junior Kyle Finklea led the way for Immaculata with 15 points, handed out four assists and three steals, while junior Julius Lopez added 13 points. Seniors Dan Lepone and Reggie Strickland each tallied 12 points, while Strickland led the Mighty Macs on the glass with eight rebounds. Senior Rob Jones added six points and registered three steals, and sophomore Scott Marston chipped in six points.
Immaculata trailed by one point at the half, but opened the second half with a dunk by Marston to regain the lead, 33-32. Misericordia pushed its advantage to as many as seven, 51-44, with 12:26 to play in the contest. Immaculata answered with a 9-3 run, tying the contest at 53-53 with 7:01 remaining. The game was tied for the ninth time, 57-57, with 4:52 left, and the Mighty Macs finished the contest outscoring the Cougars, 10-1.
Vinny Baumunk led the way for the Cougars with a double-double performance of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Dom Del Prete was the only other scorer in double figures for Misercordia (10-6, 4-3 PAC) with 12 points and seven boards.
Immaculata will be back in action on Saturday, February 2, when it travels to Cabrini for a 3 p.m. tip-off.
