Mighty Macs Hold Off Knights

Immaculata University men's basketball team defeated Neumann College 71-64 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Thursday, January 24, in Alumnae Hall.  The Mighty Macs improve to 12-4 overall and 7-0 in the PAC.

Junior Kyle Finklea and sophomore Jayson Hyman each recorded 16 points, while senior Rob Jones collected 12 points and three steals.  Sophomore Scott Marston amassed six points, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal, while senior Dan Lepone totaled 10 points off the bench.  Hyman also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

Trailing 53-47 with 8:44 remaining in the second half Immaculata used an 8-0 run to post a 55-53 lead at 6:52.  The Knights retook the lead, 60-59, with 3:56 left.  But the Mighty Macs held Neumann to only four points down the stretch and went 6-6 from the foul line to earn the 71-64 victory.

Eli Hitchens collected a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while Mike Hitchens posted 17 points.  Derahn Patrick added 14 points in the loss for the Knights (5-10, 3-4 PAC).

Immaculata returns to action on Saturday, January 26, when they host Misericordia University.  Tip-off is set for 3 pm.
