Mighty Macs Slip Past Tough Centenary College; Stay Undefeated In PAC

Immaculata University men's basketball team held off a feisty Centenary College squad to post an 81-77 victory in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, January 12, in Alumnae Hall.  The win keeps the Mighty Macs undefeated in conference play (10-4, 5-0 PAC).

Sophomore Jayson Hyman recorded a team-high 15 points, while senior Reggie Strickland registered 14 points off the bench.  Junior Kyle Finklea amassed 13 points, four rebounds and three assists, while senior Dan Lepone collected 13 points, including two free throws to ice the game down the stretch.

Senior Rob Jones pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, while Hyman added seven rebounds.

Trailing 49-42 with 14:58 remaining in the second half, Immaculata used a 12-3 run to grab a 54-52 lead with 10:52 left.  The Cyclones (3-12, 1-6) tied the game at 56-56 with 9:42 remaining, before the Mighty Macs went on an 11-2 run to post a 67-58 lead at 6:18.

However, Centenary cut into the lead and tied the game, for the 11th time, at 77-77 with 0:51 left.  But a layup by Strickland and two free throws by Lepone with 0:10 remaining solidified Immaculata's 81-77 victory.

Andrew Baker collected a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Cyclones.  William Atkinson totaled 17 points, while Corey Kearney scored 14 points.

The Mighty Macs return to action on Monday, January 21, when they host Marywood University.  Tip-off is set for 7 pm
