Sophomore Jayson Hyman scored a game-high 14 points to lead Immaculata University to a 70-53 win over Cabrini College in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, January 12, in Alumnae Hall.
Junior Kyle Finklea recorded 11 points and five assists, while senior Dan Lepone registered 10 points and two assists off the bench. Senior Robert Jones amassed seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while sophomore Julius Lopez posted eight points off the bench. Senior Reggie Strickland added seven points in the win for the Mighty Macs (9-3, 4-0 PAC).
Immaculata, which never trailed in the contest, jumped out to a 23-6 lead with 8:33 remaining in the first half. The Mighty Macs held the Cavaliers (5-8, 2-2) scoreless for 5:31 during the opening stanza and forced Cabrini to shot 28.1% (7-25) from the floor in the first half. The Mighty Macs held a 32-16 lead at the half.
The Cavaliers used a 12-6 (38-28) run to open the second half. But that would be as close as they would get, as Immaculata would score the next eight points to hold a 46-28 lead with 11:18 remaining.
Glen Washington led Cabrini with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Wes Toth added six points off the bench in the loss.
The Mighty Macs return to action on Monday, January 14, when they travel to face Widener University. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
