Immaculata University women's soccer team defeated Penn State - Berks 3-0 to post its second consecutive shutout on Monday, September 10, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
The Mighty Macs (4-0) jumped on the board early when freshman Rebecca Whiteman scored at 5:21 off a pass from fellow freshman Traci Farrell. Immaculata took a 2-0 halftime lead when junior Missy Hopely headed a beautiful pass form junior Leila Wulderk into the back of the net at 43:38. The Mighty Macs added an insurance goal at 83:35 when sophomore Christina Guerrieri scored from senior Kelli Ortega and freshman Erica Lyons.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo collected one save as Immaculata improved its scoreless streak to 257:00. Jackie Shum registered 11 saves between the pipes for the Nittany Lions.
The Mighty Macs outshot Penn State - Berks 27-2 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata returns to action on Thursday, September 13, when they travel to face Gwynedd-Mercy College. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
