Mighty Macs Split With Wesley College

Immaculata University softball team defeated Wesley College 9-4, in the second game of a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) on Saturday, April 21, in Dover, Delaware. The Mighty Macs lost the first game 5-3.

In game one, Immaculata scored all three of its runs in the top of the seventh inning. Trailing 5-0, junior Melissa Cifaloglio drew a walk to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a throwing by the third baseman. Sophomore Missy Fetter reached first on the play. Cifaloglio scored off an error by the second baseman, which allowed Fetter to move to third and freshman Gaby Roth to reach first safely. Freshman Jackie Finkbohner knocked in Fetter, with a sacrifice fly, while sophomore Val Rutt-Guerriere's single plated Finkbohner.

In game two, the Mighty Macs jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead and never looked back en route to the 9-4 win. Sophomore Missy Hopely went 2-4 with two RBI, while Guerriere recorded two hits and three RBI. Finkbohner and Roth also registered two hits.

Fetter collected the complete game victory. She allowed four runs - three earned - and struck out five.
