Immaculata University softball team fell to Cedar Crest College 5-3, 4-0 in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Saturday, March 31, in Immaculata, PA.
In game one, sophomore Val Rutl-Guerriere collected three hits and one RBI, while freshman Jackie Finkbohner registered two hits and one RBI. Finkbohner's two hits were a double and a triple, while Rutt-Guerriere also slapped a double.
The Mighty Macs scored one run in the fourth inning off an error by the shortstop to pull within 3-2. However, the Falcons responded and posted runs in the next two innings to hold a 5-2 advantage in the seventh inning. After freshman Gabby Roth singled, Finkbohner collected her double and knocked in Roth to cut the lead to 5-3. But Cedar Crest was able to get the final out and secure the 5-3 victory.
Sophomore Melissa Fetter allowed five runs (two earned) and suffered the loss.
In game two, freshman Tabitha Kerr took a no-hitter into the the seventh inning, before not only losing the no-hitter, but the shutout and the game, as the Falcons scored four runs in the top if the seventh inning.
Allison Holland held the Mighty Macs to only six hits in the win. Sophomore Jackie Mullineaux totaled two of the six hits for Immaculata.
