Immaculata Drops Conference Doubleheader

Immaculata University softball team fell to Eastern University 9-1 and 4-1 in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader on Monday, March 26, in Immaculata, PA. It was the PAC opener for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata fell to 0-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the PAC, while the Eagles improved to 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

In the first game, sophomore Val Rutl-Guerriere collected the only hit and knocked in the only run for the Mighty Macs.  Junior Missy Hopely crossed the plate in bottom of the fourth inning, after she drew a walk, her third of the game.

 

Stephanie Okeson collected two hits, two RBI and scored two runs to pace the Eagles.  Freshmen Patricia Sims and Alissa Brubaker also recorded two hits, while sophomore Elise Murante recorded two runs scored.

Sophomore Melissa Fetter allowed eight runs (one earned) and struck out three to suffer the loss, while Ashley Lewis threw a one-hitter, but walked seven to earn the victory.

In the second game of the twinbill, freshman Jackie Finkbohner collected three hits and one RBI, while Holley recorded two hits. Freshman Natalie Yodis amassed two hits and scored one run.

Rachel Bray powered Eastern to the 4-1 victory with a solo home run in the fifth inning to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. She also doubled home Brubaker in the sixth inning to push Eastern's lead to 4-0.

Freshman Tabitha Kerr pitched a complete game and allowed four runs (three earned) and struck out four for the Mighty Macs, while Raychal Weis allowed one unearned run and struck out nine to earn the victory.
