Murray Ties Her Career High As Immaculata Wins Third Straight

Sophomore Dominique Murray tied her career high with 31 points, as Immaculata University won its third straight contest with a 68-52 victory over Wesley College in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Monday, Febraury 5, in Alumnae Hall.

The Mighty Macs, who have won six of their last seven games, improve to 12-8 overall and 8-4 in the PAC.

In addition to her 31 points, Murray, the PAC Player of the Week, also pulled down a game-high 19 rebounds to collect her fourth double-double of the season.

"Dom played a great game," head coach Patty Canterino said. "We were able to get the points down low when we needed them."

Senior Meg Legere recorded 18 points, while sophomore Kasey Hicks registered 11 assists. Hicks also collected five points and six rebounds.

Trailing 20-16 with 10:23 left, Immaculata used a 10-0 run to grab a 26-20 lead with 6:30 remaining. However, the Wolverines scored the next seven points to take a 27-26 lead with 4:25 remaining. The half ended with the score knotted at 36-36.

The Mighty Macs held Wesley scoreless until 11:54 of the second half. Immaculata held a 45-37 lead at that point. The Wolverines knotted the game at 45-45 with 9:54 left, but Immaculata used a 23-7 run to close the game and earn the 68-52 victory.

After scoring 36 points in the first half, Wesley was held to only 16 in the second half.

"I was proud of the way we came out strong in the second half," stated Canterino. "Our defense and our effort was much better."

Domonique Barrett paced Wesley (6-15, 4-9 PAC) with 13 points.
