Mighty Macs Win Second Straight

Immaculata University men's basketball team earned its second straight win with a 73-60 victory over Eastern University on Thursday, January 18, in St. David's, Pennsylvania.

The win improves to the Mighty Macs to 3-10 overall and 3-3 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC).

Junior Robert Jones totaled a career-high 22 points, while sophomore Kyle Finklea recorded 14 points.  Finklea tied his career high with five assists and also added a game-high nine rebounds.  Jones also tied career highs in both steals (3) and assists (3).  Freshman Scott Marston amassed nine points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Dan Lepone collected nine points, four assists and four steals.

With the score tied 2-2, Immaculata ran off 10 straight points to hold a 10-2 lead with 15:05 left in the first half.  The Mighty Macs used that first half energy and turned it into a 42-25 halftime lead.

Eastern (8-6, 5-4 PAC) whittled the lead down to six points, 54-48, with 9:42 left in the second half, but Immaculata used an 11-2 run to grab a 65-50 lead with 6:00 remaining.

David Volpe paced the Eagles with 19 points.

The Mighty Macs return to action on Saturday, January 20, when they host Marywood University.  Tip-off is set for 3 pm.
