Mighty Macs Fall At Alvernia

Sophomore Dominique Murray recorded a career day with 31 points and 20 rebounds, but Immaculata University fell to Alvernia College 92-79, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Saturday, December 2, in Reading, PA.

Senior Meg Legere posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore Stephanie Stripe added 10 points off the bench. Murray also totaled five assists, while sophomore Kasey Hicks led the Mighty Macs with seven assists.

The Crusaders began the game leading 14-6, but Immaculata responded and used a 15-2 run to grab a 21-16 lead with 9:59 left in the opening stanza. Alvernia held a 33-32 lead with 4:12 left in the first half, but the Mighty Macs used a 12-6 run to take a 43-39 lead into intermission.

Tied at 47-47 with 17:09 left in the second half, the Crusaders (3-3, 2-0 PAC) used a 20-8 run to post a 67-55 lead with 11:22 remaining. Alvernia never looked backed as they extended its lead to 87-70 with 3:15 left.

Lauren Fortna paced the Crusaders with 24 points, while Jill Rosolie added 23 points. Kerry Higgs amassed 10 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Immaculata (3-3, 1-1 PAC) returns to action on Monday, December 4, when they face Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
