Immaculata University women's basketball team dropped a 71-54 decision to Rowan University in its home opener on Monday, November 27, in Alumnae Hall.
Senior Meg Legere recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while fellow senior Mary Kate Pawlowski registered a team-high 16 points. Sophomore Jessica Dantzler-Henry added 12 points, four steals and four assists. Junior Nina Cammarano amassed six points, while sophomore Stephanie Stripe collected five points off the bench.
Trailing 14-7 with 11:57 left in the first half, the Mighty Macs (2-2) went on a 15-9 run to pull within one (23-22) with 5:52 remaining, but the Profs (2-2) withstood the run and extended its lead to 32-29 at the half.
Rowan pushed its halftime lead to 46-31 with 15:21 on the clock as they began the second stanza with a 14-2 run. Immaculata stormed back with an 18-9 run over the course of five minutes to cut the lead to 57-49 with 5:57 remaining. However, that would be as close as the Mighty Macs would get as the Profs recorded the 71-54 victory.
Lauren Bryne led Rowan with 16 points, while Susan Wallace added nine points. Wallace and Bryne also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds each.
Immaculata returns to action on Thursday, November 30, when they host Rosemont College in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) opener. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
