Immaculata University men's basketball team fell in its home opener 69-61 to Marymount University on Tuesday, November 21, in Alumnae Hall.
Freshman Robert Jones collected his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Jayson Hyman and sophomore Julius Lopez recorded 10 points each. Lopez also added three assists and three steals, while freshman Scott Marston amassed eight points and five rebounds in his first career start.
The Indians held a 55-45 lead with 8:38 remaining in the second half, but the Mighty Macs scored the next seven points and whittled the 10-point lead down to 55-52 with 5:30 left. That would be as close as Immaculata would get as Marymount pushed its lead to 69-58 with 0:23 remaining in the second half.
Mike Gray paced Marymount (2-1) with 21 points, while Brandon Parker registered 12.
The Mighty Macs (0-3) return to action on Monday, November 27, when they face Wilkes University. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
