GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Immaculata University field hockey team battled back from a three-goal deficit on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 3-2 to Arcadia University at Jean Lenox West Field.
The Mighty Macs fall to 2-6 on the season, while Arcadia improves to 5-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ARCADIA
- Arcadia struck first just 4:31 into the contest when Kyra Moyer converted an early opportunity to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
- The Knights added to their advantage late in the opening quarter when Lilli Clark scored at 12:44 off an assist from Mackenzie Clark, sending Arcadia into the second quarter with a 2-0 lead.
- Immaculata generated its first shot on goal late in the second quarter when Morgan Barnes tested Arcadia goalkeeper Anna Dobolovosky, but the attempt was turned aside.
- Arcadia extended its lead to 3-0 at 35:41 when Mackenzie Clark found the back of the cage early in the third quarter.
- The Mighty Macs answered early in the fourth quarter as Alexis Andrada scored at 46:40 to cut the deficit to 3-1. Andrada's initial shot was saved by Dobolovosky before she followed up to score her third goal of the season.
- Immaculata continued to pressure the Arcadia defense throughout the fourth quarter. Andrada recorded three additional shots on goal during the ensuing offensive push, but Dobolovosky made a series of saves to keep the Knights ahead.
- Andrada struck again at 56:51, scoring her second goal of the afternoon to bring the Mighty Macs within one at 3-2.
- Immaculata continued to battle in the final minutes, but Arcadia's defense held off the Mighty Macs to secure the 3-2 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Immaculata finished with a 9-19 deficit in shots but put eight of its nine attempts on goal.
- The Mighty Macs generated four penalty corners, including one in each quarter.
- Andrada led the Mighty Macs with six shots, all of which were on goal, while scoring both Immaculata goals.
- Barnes added two shots, including two shots on goal.
- Goalkeeper Mackenzie Schrack made five saves in 30 minutes of action, while Annamae Jones recorded one save during her 30 minutes in goal.
- Arcadia held an 11-4 advantage in penalty corners.
- The Mighty Macs scored twice in the fourth quarter to end their dry spell.
