Field Hockey Falls at Widener on Wednesday Evening

WOODLYN, Pa. – The Immaculata University field hockey team dropped a 9-1 decision to Widener University Wednesday evening at Edith R. Dixon Field.
 
With the setback, the Mighty Macs fall to 2-7 on the season, while Widener improves to 3-4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WIDENER
  • Widener jumped out to an early lead, scoring just 1:54 into the contest. Widener extended their lead at the 11:54 mark, as the Pride carried a 2-0 lead into the second quarter.
  • Widener extended its lead to 3-0 late in the second quarter, sending the Mighty Macs into halftime trailing by three.
  • The Pride added two goals in the third quarter to take a 5-0 advantage and added additional goals in the fourth quarter.
  • The Mighty Macs got on the scoreboard with 2:14 remaining in regulation as Alexis Andrada took the restart after a Widener goal, stick-handled through multiple Widener defenders, and fired a shot past the keeper high into the net for her fifth goal of the season.
  • Widener would go on to close out the win 9-1.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Andrada has now scored three goals in Immaculata's last two games after recording a pair of goals against Arcadia on Saturday. With the goal, Andrada now has 56 career points, giving her sole possession of fourth place in program history for career points.
  • Mackenzie Schrack recorded 10 saves in goal for the Mighty Macs, including a save on a Widener penalty stroke in the second quarter.
  • Ella Miller recorded four saves in goal.
  • Natalie Dodd recorded Immaculata's lone defensive save early in the fourth quarter.

The Immaculata field hockey team will be back on the road on Friday, October 2, when they open United East Conference play at Penn State Harrisburg at 5 p.m. Friday's contest marks the beginning of Immaculata's first season competing in the United East Conference.
