ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Immaculata University women's soccer (3-2-0) erupted for seven goals, including four in the second half, to earn a commanding 7-2 win over Cedar Crest College (1-4-0) Saturday morning at Falcon Plex, their third straight victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CEDAR CREST
- The Mighty Macs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Addison Yackel found the back of the net just 15 seconds into the contest to give Immaculata an early 1-0 advantage.
- Gracie Repici doubled the lead at the 4:05 mark, converting a corner kick from Emma Sobieski for her third goal of the season.
- Immaculata continued its fast start as Heather Russell scored her second goal of the season at 14:29, again with Sobieski providing the assist, putting the Mighty Macs ahead 3-0.
- Cedar Crest responded with two goals late in the opening half to cut the deficit to one.
- The Mighty Macs took a 3-2 lead into halftime despite holding a 12-7 advantage in shots.
- Immaculata came out firing in the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to pull away. Flora Hernandez restored the Mighty Macs' two-goal cushion at 49:45, scoring her second goal of the season on a free kick.
- Just over seven minutes later, Lily McGee scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Repici to make it a 5-2 contest. McGee struck again at 60:03, scoring her second goal of the afternoon to push the Immaculata advantage to 6-2.
- Repici capped the scoring at 62:30, converting a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season and giving the Mighty Macs a 7-2 lead.
- Immaculata controlled the action throughout the second half, outshooting Cedar Crest 19-0 and finishing the afternoon with a 31-7 advantage in total shots. The Mighty Macs also held a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Repici led the offensive attack with two goals and an assist. This was her first career game with multiple goals. Repici has now scored in each of the last three games.
- McGee scored two goals for Immaculata, the first multiple-goal game of her career.
- Sobieski had two assists, giving her a team high of three for the season.
- Yackel and Hernandez each added a goal, while Russell contributed a goal. Hernandez has now scored in back-to-back games.
- Devan Cosgrove made three saves during the first half before Addi Husenica took over in goal for the second half. Ayana Jackson also saw action late in the contest.
