SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Immaculata men's soccer could not hang on to the 1-1 tie late in their match against the Susquehanna University River Hawks on Saturday, as the home team was victorious 2-1.
The Mighty Macs are 0-6 for the season. Their first AEC match will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Centenary (N.J.).
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SUSQUEHANNA
- A Brady Derkosh shot was blocked not even three minutes in. The two sides traded attacks, but Susquehanna got on the board with a score in the 15th minute. The River Hawks' goalie prevented a Jayden Tossie shot from going in, and the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
- The Mighty Macs saw a solid possession in the early moments of the second half. In the 52nd minute, Milan Kosiba's shot was blocked, but Immaculata rebounded moments later off a corner kick to knot the score 1-1. Carlos Garcia sent the ball into the low left corner on a Kyle Coleman assist. Although Luca Greppellini recorded a save, the home team answered in the 69th minute to regain the lead for good. The Mighty Macs were not able to respond in the final minutes, and the River Hawks won 2-1.

The Mighty Macs are back home on Friday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. They will host the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Bobcats. It will be the first match of a back-to-back, with another home match on Saturday.
