CHESTER, Pa. – Immaculata women's soccer netted a goal in each half on Wednesday against the Widener University Pride for a 2-1 road win.
The Mighty Macs are 2-2 for the season. Their first AEC match will be on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Centenary (N.J.).
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WIDENER
- Although Widener's offense was attacking in the beginning, it was Immaculata who got on the board first. Gracie Repici knocked in a shot, on assists from Marissa Sozzi and Natalene Clemson. The two sides traded shots to conclude the half, with the Mighty Macs holding a 1-0 lead going into the locker room.
- Devan Cosgrove checked in at goalie to replace Addi Husenica. The Pride saw a barrage of corner kicks to attempt offensive possessions, but the Mighty Macs' defense held their ground. On a fast break opportunity, Flora Hernandez cashed in on a goal on a Lily McGee dime to make the score 2-0. It was Hernandez's first of the season. She almost put a shot in the net a second time in the 81st minute, but Widener's goalie made the stop. The Pride erased the shutout in the 87th minute. Immaculata won 2-1.

- Repici and Hernandez each scored for the Mighty Macs.
- Sozzi and Clemson each recorded an assist on Repici's score.
- Husenica started the first half and totaled four saves.
