YORK, Pa. – Immaculata women's volleyball could not grab a win on Saturday in their tri-match against the host, the York (Pa.) College Spartans, and the FDU-Florham Devils.
The Mighty Macs are 2-6 for the season. Their first AEC match will be on Saturday, Oct. 17 versus Saint Elizabeth.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST YORK (Pa.)
- Immaculata and York took turns exchanging quick runs, as Immaculata scored five straight. Tara Hirschtritt logged a kill to begin and end the stretch. The set was hotly contested, but the Spartans continued to stay one point ahead. With the Mighty Macs down 20-19, the Spartans concluded set one on a 5-1 push. York won 25-20.
- A 5-0 York opening in set two was countered with a 7-0 answer by Immaculata. The Mighty Macs kept momentum on Eliana Szatkowski and Sophia Banach kills and multiple York errors. Despite York holding the advantage, the Mighty Macs brought the score to 24-22. However, a Spartans kill gave the home team a 25-22 victory.
- Even though the Mighty Macs trailed early in set three, another Szatkowski kill and an Adriana Blas ace tied the score at 10. The teams battled it out, with Immaculata going up 20-18 off another Blas ace. The Spartans finished the day with a 7-0 run, making the score 25-20. York claimed the match 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST FDU-FLORHAM
- After being knotted at 5-5, the Mighty Macs scored five consecutive points to force an FDU-Florham timeout. The Devils slowly trimmed Immaculata's advantage and used a 9-1 swing to regain the lead. Down 19-14, the Mighty Macs pulled to within one point on three straight kills. The two sides traded points until the Devils got the last one for a 25-22 win.
- Immaculata set the tone to start the second before an 8-1 outburst provided FDU-Florham the lead. Immaculata grabbed six straight rallies to get to a one-point deficit, 18-17, thanks to kills from Kyle and Hirschtritt. A Hirschtritt kill put the score at 23-21, but the Devils won 25-21.
- Four consecutive FDU-Florham attack errors, and a Hirschtritt kill, made up a 5-0 run in the initial stages of set three. The Devils tried to cut into the lead, but the Mighty Macs kept them at arm's length. A 6-1 push was good enough for the Devils to go up one after trailing by four. Kyle recorded the final two kills of the day for Immaculata, even with FDU-Florham taking the last point. The Devils were victorious 25-22, and in the match 3-0.

- Kyle contributed 12 kills.
- Santini Bulerin had 23 assists.
- Szatkowski added five more blocks (two solo, three assisted).
- Ventura's 24 digs were good for first on the team.
