SCRANTON, Pa. – The Immaculata men's lacrosse team returned from its long break in the schedule to earn an 8-5 road AEC victory over Marymount at Pacer Turf Field.
Immaculata overcame an early back-and-forth start and took control with a decisive run in the second quarter, building a lead it would not relinquish. Five different players found the back of the net, led by a four-point performance from
Jude Azzarano (3G, 1A), while
Matthew Ludlow anchored the defense with 13 saves.
With the win, Immaculata improves to 9-4 overall and is now 1-1 in Atlantic East Conference play, while Marywood falls to 5-9 overall and is 0-2 in Atlantic East Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYWOOD
- Marywood struck first at 8:22, but Immaculata answered quickly as Jude Azzarano tied the game at 6:40. The hosts regained the lead at 5:04 before Azzarano delivered again, finishing a feed from Aaron Headley with just seven seconds remaining to even the score at 2–2 heading into the second.
- Immaculata seized momentum with a four-goal burst. Ryan Gorman opened the quarter's scoring at 11:20, sparking a run that included goals from Aaron Headley, Matthew Frame, and another from Azzarano. Immaculata's defense held Marywood scoreless in the period to take a commanding 6–2 lead into halftime.
- Immaculata continued its push early in the third. Jason Smaron scored just 43 seconds in, followed by Headley's second of the game at 7:01 to stretch the lead to 8–2. Marywood broke through late in the quarter with a man-up goal, but the Mighty Macs remained firmly in control.
- Marywood mounted a late push with a pair of goals midway through the fourth quarter, but Immaculata's defense held strong down the stretch to preserve the three-goal victory.

The Immaculata men's lacrosse team will return home on Saturday, when they host Gwynedd Mercy at Draper Walsh Stadium for an Atlantic East Conference game at 4 p.m. Saturday is senior day for the men's lacrosse team, and they will honor their seniors before the game.
