IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's lacrosse team used a dominant second and third quarter surge, backed by outstanding goaltending from
Matthew Ludlow, to defeat Gwynedd Mercy, 12–5, on Senior Day at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Jason Smaron led the Mighty Macs with four goals and one assist, while
Aaron Headley added three goals.
Nick Senatore contributed one goal and two assists to help pace the offense. In net,
Matthew Ludlow was stellar, recording 20 saves and collecting six ground balls to anchor the defensive effort.
With the victory, Immaculata improves to 11–4 overall and 2–1 in Atlantic East Conference play. Gwynedd Mercy drops to 6–5 overall and 1–1 in conference action..

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GWYNEDD MERCY
- Immaculata opened the scoring midway through the first quarter when Ryan Gorman capitalized on an unassisted opportunity. Gwynedd Mercy answered with a man-up goal to even the score at 1–1 after a tightly contested opening period.
- The Mighty Macs seized control in the second quarter with a four-goal run. Aaron Headley and Ryan Gorman each scored off assists from Nick Senatore, while Jason Smaron added a pair of unassisted goals to extend the lead to 5–1. Gwynedd Mercy scored late in the half to make it 5–2 at the break.
- Immaculata continued its momentum in the third quarter, shutting out Gwynedd Mercy while adding three more goals. Senatore converted a man-up opportunity off a Smaron assist, Headley scored off a pass from John Stelacio, and Gael Avalo added an unassisted tally to push the lead to 8–2.
- n the fourth quarter, both teams traded goals, but Immaculata consistently responded to maintain control. Smaron scored twice more, including one off an assist from Jude Azzarano. Matthew Frame added an unassisted goal, and Headley capped his hat trick with a goal assisted by Stelacio, securing the 12–5 victory.
