MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -The Immaculata baseball team opened its spring break trip on Saturday with a 5–1 loss to Wittenberg at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
With the loss, Immaculata falls to 1–3 overall, while Wittenberg improves to 5–3.
Alex LePage started on the mound and pitched 7 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
John Fitzpatrick followed with 1 inning, giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits with 1 walk.
Sal Marziani closed the game, tossing 1 scoreless inning, allowing 1 hit with no walks or strikeouts.
Josh Goulburn led the Immaculata offense, going 3-for-4 with three singles and an RBI.
Ryan Nace finished 1-for-3 with a single and a hit-by-pitch, while
Alex Tronosky went 1-for-4 with a single.
Joey Mozzone added 1-for-3 with a single, a run scored, a hit-by-pitch, and a strikeout.
Immaculata will return to action on Sunday when it faces Penn College in a doubleheader at the Polo Grounds Field at the Ripken Experience. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
