IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata men's volleyball faced the Eastern University Eagles in non-conference action on Thursday night. The visitors won 3-0.
The Mighty Macs are 5-5 for the season. They are 4-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
- Despite an early sequence of a Christian Lee kill and Alex Corsones ace, the Eagles responded with a 4-0 run to go up 8-4. Both sides went back and forth, with Immaculata pulling to within one point late. A 7-1 Eastern push, though, decided the set. The Eagles grabbed set one 25-17.
- The Mighty Macs sandwiched an Eastern attack error and a Luke Dortenzo ace between two 4-0 Eastern runs. Immaculata's offense was unable to keep up with the visitors', until five straight Mighty Macs points cut the deficit to seven. The Eagles slowly built their lead back, as they took set two 25-14.
- A few Eagles errors provided Immaculata with early momentum in the third set. A 7-1 swing returned the advantage to Eastern. Noah Zunski was key in a 5-1 run by recording a kill and an ace back-to-back. Despite this, the Eagles controlled the lead the rest of the way. They won set three 25-17, and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Zunski led the team with six kills.
- Dortenzo served 11 assists.
- Michael Prall had two aces and nine digs.
- Jordan Brown logged two solo blocks.
