Men's Lacrosse Sinks Manhattanville Valiants Behind Four Senatore Goals

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Immaculata men's lacrosse used a strong offensive day from Nick Senatore to defeat the Manhattanville University Valiants 10-6.

The Mighty Macs are 6-3 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Friday, March 27 versus Marymount.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MANHATTANVILLE
  • The Valiants got on the board first with two goals. The Mighty Macs pounced on a Manhattanville slashing penalty with a Senatore score from Jason Smaron. Both sides would see shot attempts before the Valiants scored again. After a Valiants turnover, Aaron Headley got past the goalie to bring the deficit to one point. Manhattanville led 3-2 after the first quarter.
  • Matthew Ludlow recorded two saves early in the second before a shot slipped past. With the Valiants eventually leading by three, another slashing penalty segued into Jude Azzarano feeding Senatore for another goal. Immaculata forced a third slashing penalty later in the quarter, which allowed the Mighty Macs' offense to turn up the heat. Three consecutive shots were wide before Azzarano broke through, courtesy of Smaron. The exact opposite, Smaron from Azzarano, happened 20 seconds later, as the Mighty Macs tied the game 5-5 at the half.
  • Immaculata's offense was relentless in the third with three shots and two ground balls in a one-minute span. The Mighty Macs outscored the Valiants 3-0 in the quarter. Brian Fuchs went first on a Thomas Laurenzano assist. John Stelacio assisted for Senatore's third goal of the day. A Ludlow save started an Immaculata drive that ended with Headley converting via Senatore. It was 8-5 through three.
  • Senatore concluded his scoring in the fourth quarter on an Azzarano dime, thanks to a Manhattanville holding penalty. The two sides traded scores late in the quarter. Ryan Gorman increased the lead to four on a Headley assist. Immaculata's defense held on for the remainder of the game. The Mighty Macs won 10-6.
