GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. — Immaculata used balanced scoring, defensive pressure, and a dominant fourth quarter to secure an 83–60 road win over Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday afternoon at the Griffin Complex.
Meg Robbins led all scorers with a career-high of 17 points and seven rebounds.
Carly Coleman recorded her 14
th double-double of the season with 16 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and a blocked shot.
Abby Grillo had a double-double of her own with 16 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Riley Cassidy was the fourth Mighty Mac to score in double figures with 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
With the win, Immaculata improves to 18-3 overall and 10-0 in Atlantic East Conference play, while Gwynedd Mercy falls to 6-14 overall and 3-6 in Atlantic East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST GWYNEDD MERCY
- Immaculata set the tone early with active defense and balanced scoring, forcing seven turnovers in the opening 10 minutes. Abby Grillo provided an immediate spark with seven first-quarter points, while Keira Benoit came off the bench to score four late points that helped the Mighty Macs build momentum. Despite Gwynedd Mercy's strong outside shooting, Immaculata closed the quarter on a 15–7 run to take a three-point lead.
- The Mighty Macs weathered a brief surge from Gwynedd Mercy in the second quarter and remained composed on both ends of the floor. Meg Robbins established a position in the paint, scoring efficiently and drawing fouls, while Carly Coleman facilitated the offense and kept Immaculata in rhythm. A key three-pointer from Keira Benoit and a late jumper by Olivia Ettorre helped Immaculata regain control and carry a four-point advantage into halftime.
- Immaculata tightened defensively coming out of the locker room, holding Gwynedd Mercy to 21.1 percent shooting in the third quarter. Coleman led the charge offensively with eight points in the period, attacking the lane and converting at the free-throw line. The Mighty Macs also controlled the glass and limited second-chance opportunities, allowing them to extend the lead to double digits by the end of the quarter.
- The Mighty Macs put the game away in the final quarter with disciplined execution and relentless defensive pressure. Immaculata shot 53.3 percent in the period and forced key turnovers that led to transition baskets. Riley Cassidy knocked down a momentum-shifting three and finished through contact, while Robbins and Abby Grillo continued to score inside. Immaculata outscored Gwynedd Mercy 22–9 in the quarter and pushed the lead to as many as 26 points to close out the 83–60 victory.
