Men's Lacrosse Downs Drew Rangers in Saturday Night Game Under the Lights

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata men's lacrosse used a strong first half to propel them to an 11-8 win over the Drew University Rangers on Saturday evening.

The Mighty Macs are 3-1 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Friday, March 27 versus Marymount.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST DREW
  • The Rangers picked up the first goal of the day after an Immaculata penalty. The Mighty Macs answered back with the next two scores, courtesy of Matthew Frame and Jude Azzarano. Immaculata forced a Drew shot clock violation and had a few clears. Drew grabbed the next goal before Carnell Lofton Jr. won the next faceoff. It was 2-2 through one quarter.
  • Not even a minute into the second quarter, Frame cashed in to break the tie on a John Stelacio assist. It was the beginning of a 4-0 Immaculata run. Both sides were aggressive with their offenses, but the visitors put two in the net within the final couple of minutes of the half to trim the deficit by two. The Mighty Macs were up 6-4 going into the locker room.
  • Immaculata saw a solid drive in the opening minutes of the third. A successful clear led to a shot off the post before Aaron Headley got past Drew's goalie. The two sides traded scores, and Matthew Ludlow continued to stand tall in goal. Jason Smaron converted on a shot right as the buzzer was about to expire. Immaculata had a 9-6 advantage through three.
  • Nick Senatore began the fourth quarter with a wide shot and then a goal moments later. A Brady Lynch caused turnover was key, as it segued into a Headley score. The Rangers got two goals back within just over a minute apart, but the lead was essentially secured. Immaculata won 11-8.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Frame led the team with four goals. Nine of his 11 shots were on goal.
