Men's Volleyball Battles Hard in Loss to Ramapo Roadrunners

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata men's volleyball took a thrilling win in the second set against the Ramapo College Roadrunners on Saturday, but the visitors won the match 3-1.

The Mighty Macs are 1-3 for the season. Their first UEC game will be on Tuesday, March 3 versus Gallaudet.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST RAMAPO
  • Immaculata held a small lead early before a 5-1 Ramapo run put them up 6-4. The Mighty Macs got back in the set on a few Roadrunners errors. Down 20-11, Immaculata saw a Josh McGurl kill and more Ramapo errors. The Roadrunners ended the set with four of the last five points to win 25-16.
  • The Mighty Macs' offense set the tone in the second frame, leading 5-1 in the first six rallies. Both sides fought hard, as Immaculata and Ramapo each won a point consecutively four straight times. The teams did the same thing five straight times later in the set. Even with the Roadrunners up 18-15 late, Immaculata stormed back with a monstrous 10-1 run, led by two Noah Zunski aces, to grab the second set 25-19.
  • A Zunski kill and a Luke Dortenzo ace were part of three consecutive points in the third set. Neither side got ahead of the other too much, until a 6-1 Ramapo push put them up by four. Immaculata eventually pulled to within four on some visitors' errors, but the Roadrunners closed the set, 25-14, with the final seven points.
  • Despite Ramapo having a 6-2 advantage in the fourth set, a bad Ramapo set and a Christian Lee kill shortened the deficit to 6-4. Similar to the second frame, Immaculata and Ramapo scored a point back-and-forth four straight times. Even though the Mighty Macs pulled to within two points on a 4-1 run, Ramapo finished the afternoon with three of the last four points. Ramapo was victorious in the fourth set 25-21, and the match 3-1.
