IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata men's basketball fell 94-85 on Saturday afternoon against the Centenary University Cyclones, despite a high-scoring second half from both sides.
Prior to tip-off, the Mighty Macs honored their four seniors:
Jalen Flowers,
Kevin Telesford,
Idan Zuker, and
Dylan Crews. Team IMPACT member
Charlie Schmidt was also honored.
Additionally, the Immaculata men's and women's doubleheader was a tribute to Play4Kay, which honors the legacy of the late, legendary N.C. State coach Kay Yow. Yow battled breast cancer for over 20 years.
The Mighty Macs are 4-19 for the season. They are 3-9 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CENTENARY (N.J.)
- A flurry of points came from both sides to open the game. Centenary used a 14-2 outburst to take a 14-point lead, but Robbie Conyer halted the Cyclones' efforts with a jumper. As the half neared the end, Immaculata began trimming the visitors' advantage. A Mandon Seapoe layup cut the deficit to 37-31. Jayden Williams added two free throws with 42 seconds left to make the halftime score 37-33.
- The Mighty Macs and Cyclones each came out of the break with aggressive offenses. A 10-2 Immaculata run got the score to within two, with Domenic Vacchiano capping off the run with a layup. The Cyclones saw multiple trips to the foul line to build their lead back up. Christian Chambers knocked down all four of his triples in the second half, including three in the span of 2:10. However, Centenary used an 11-3 push to put their lead back to double digits. Even with Crews scoring the final bucket of the night on a tip-in layup, the Cyclones won 94-85.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Crews and Conyer each had a team-high 18 points. Conyer's 18 was a career-high.
- Chambers tallied 14 points and a team-best three blocks.
- Vacchiano logged seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Mighty Macs in those categories.
