SCRANTON, Pa. – Immaculata men's basketball outscored the Marywood University Pacers in the second half on Wednesday evening, but the Pacers took the 87-79 win.
The Mighty Macs are 4-18 for the season. They are 3-8 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYWOOD
- Jeremiah Alexander scored the first points for Immaculata, but the Pacers began the night on a 10-2 run. Immaculata inserted a quick 5-0 push in the middle of the half with a Jalen Flowers triple and a Jayden Williams layup. Down 15, the Mighty Macs trimmed the deficit to eight with a 10-3 outburst. However, Marywood built their lead back and were up 47-34 at halftime.
- Six of the initial eight points in the second frame went to Immaculata. Shots were flying in rapid succession on both sides, with the home team holding onto their lead with three consecutive three-pointers. With about 11 minutes to go, the Mighty Macs' comeback attempt began, getting the score to 70-67 on another Flowers triple. Dylan Crews tied the game on a layup, but then a foul sent the Pacers to the free throw line. Even with Immaculata's deficit down to four, four Marywood foul shots would solidify the home team's lead for good. Marywood won 87-79.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Crews had a team-high 21 points and six assists.
- Robbie Conyer tied his career-high with 12 points.
- Flowers was a spark off the bench with 11 points and a team-best two steals.
