GLASSBORO, N.J. – Immaculata women's volleyball took control in the third set over the Rowan University Profs on Tuesday, but the Mighty Macs could not overcome a 3-1 decision.
The Mighty Macs are 3-8 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Saturday, Oct. 11 versus Saint Elizabeth.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ROWAN
- The Profs jumped out to an early lead in the opening set. The Mighty Macs received kills from a variety of players, starting with Damani Myers and Emma Hodgson. Despite aces from Myers and Angelica Santini Bulerin, Rowan grabbed a 25-11 set one win.
- Mia Esposito halted a quick 4-0 Profs run in the second set. Immaculata saw a 5-0 push in the middle of the set to cut the deficit to eight. The home team controlled the scoring for the rest of the way in a 25-14 victory.
- Hodgson was responsible for the first two Mighty Macs points in set three, via a kill and an ace. Both sides went back-and-forth, but the Mighty Macs took advantage of multiple Rowan errors. Although the Profs tied it at 12, another kill and ace combo from Hodgson ensured Immaculata's lead was safe. The Mighty Macs took set three 25-20.
- The fourth set was all Rowan. The Profs pounced on an 11-0 lead. A Santini Bulerin kill and two Profs errors gave the Mighty Macs a 3-0 run. A 10-2 outburst ended the night with a 25-8 Rowan win in the final set. Immaculata fell 3-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Hodgson saw a team-high eight kills.
- Santini Bulerin assisted 12 times, which led the Mighty Macs.
- Hodgson and Myers each had two aces.
