Volleyball Drops Two Matches in Tri-Match at Eastern

ST. DAVID'S, Pa.- The Immaculata women's volleyball team dropped both matches of their tri-match at Eastern University on Saturday. Immaculata fell to Susquehanna 3-1 in their first match, before falling to the host Eastern 3-0 in their second match.
 
With the loss Immaculata falls to 3-7 overall. Their first AEC game will be on Saturday, Oct. 11 versus Saint Elizabeth.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST SUSQUEHANNA
  • The teams traded points early in the opening set before Susquehanna put together a six-point run to take an 18-15 lead. Immaculata responded with a strong push, including a pair of kills from Damani Myers, to even the score at 19-19. The Riverhawks reached set point at 24-22, but the Mighty Macs rallied with three consecutive kills from Mia Esposito to take the set 26-24.
  • Immaculata came out strong in the second set, jumping to an early 8-3 lead behind kills from Esposito, Calissa Araujo, and Myers. However, Susquehanna countered with a seven-point run to swing momentum and eventually secured the set 25-19.
  • Both teams exchanged runs early in the third. Immaculata used a four-point surge — featuring kills from Esposito, Araujo, and Emma Hodgson — to grab a 12-9 lead. Susquehanna answered with multiple three-point bursts and pulled away to take the third set 25-20.
  • Susquehanna started the fourth quickly, building an 11-4 advantage. Immaculata cut into the lead with a four-point run that included a service ace from Hodgson and two kills by Myers. Later, Eliana Szatkowski served two straight points to bring the Macs within one at 12-11. However, the Riverhawks regained control and finished the set 25-17 to win the match 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
  • Immaculata opened with early kills from Angelica Santini Bulerin and Mia Esposito to stay close, trimming the Eastern lead to 4-3. However, Eastern responded with a seven-point run to go up 11-3. Down 15-7, Angelica served three straight points — highlighted by a service ace and two kills from Damani Myers — to close the gap to 15-11. Eastern regained momentum and closed out the set 25-13.
  • Eastern stormed out to a 9-0 lead in the second set. Immaculata battled back, as Adriana Blas served four straight points, featuring three kills from Calissa Araujo to bring the score to 17-15. The Mighty Macs took a 19-18 lead with a run that included a service ace by Araujo and a kill from Myers. Eastern, however, responded with a 6-0 run to claim the set 25-21.
  • Eastern took full control in the third set, racing to an 18-0 lead. Immaculata strung together a four-point run late, including kills from Araujo and Emma Hodgson, but Eastern closed out the set 25-10 to complete the 3-0 match sweep.
