Women's Soccer Falls to DeSales Bulldogs on Saturday

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Immaculata women's soccer scored a goal in the first half on Saturday against the DeSales University Bulldogs, but the Bulldogs were victorious in a 3-1 decision.

The Mighty Macs are 1-5-1 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Saturday, Oct. 4 versus Centenary (N.J.).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST DESALES
  • The Bulldogs saw an early corner kick and shot, but the Mighty Macs' defense denied it from entering the net. A Gabby Palladino shot, the opening Immaculata attempt of the afternoon, was saved. Emily Guthier kept everything in front of her in the first half, including three saves in a three-minute span starting in the 13th minute. Sam Terry cashed in at 26:26 with a shot in the lower left corner. Even with a few more Guthier saves, DeSales tied the match with 88 seconds remaining in the half. Forty-five minutes concluded with a 1-1 tie.
  • Laine Gomez-Garcia attempted a shot just four seconds into the second half. Unfortunately, it was wide right. Despite both teams having chances to put shots in the net, the Bulldogs broke the draw in the 70th minute. The home team's offense heated up as the half progressed, and they would score again in the 85th minute. The lead was insurmountable for the Mighty Macs, and DeSales won 3-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
