Field Hockey Falls to Alvernia 5-1 in Non Conference Match Up

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata field hockey team was back in action at Draper Walsh Stadium on Tuesday night hosting Alvernia. The Golden Wolves posted three goals in the first half as they went on to defeat Immaculata 5-1. Taylor Egan scored the lone goal for the Mighty Macs.
 
With the loss Immaculata falls to 3-6 overall, and with the win Alvernia improves to 3-5 overall.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED VS ALVERNIA
  • Alvernia opened the scoring at 5:31 of the first quarter with a goal by Kelsy McClintock.
  • Immaculata goalkeeper Mackenzie Schrack made three saves on seven shots faced in the first quarter.
  • Alvernia would extend their lead in the second quarter on a pair of goals by Caroline Martin to take a 3-0 lead in the halftime break.
  • Alexis Andrada, Morgan Barnes, and Taylor Eagan all had shots on goal in the second quarter for Immaculata.
  • Immaculata got on the score board at 8:07 of the third quarter, when Taylor Eagan scored assisted by Gabrielle O'Brien to end Immaculata's dry spell.
  • Alvernia would add a goal by Ava Michael late in the third quarter, and a goal by Matisyn Derkacs in the fourth to close out the 5-1 win.
