Women's Soccer Stifled by Eastern Eagles

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata women's soccer was unable to find a rhythm on Tuesday evening, as the visiting Eastern University Eagles took a 4-0 win. Eastern has only allowed one goal in six matches.

The Mighty Macs are 1-2-1 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Saturday, Oct. 4 versus Centenary (N.J.).

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST EASTERN
  • Despite an Emily Guthier save late in the fifth minute, the Eagles put their first goal in the net two minutes later. Both sides would exchange shots before Eastern struck again with an unassisted score. Guthier recorded a save as the half ended with a 2-0 Eastern lead.
  • The Eagles' offense was aggressive out of the locker room with five early shots. Despite some flashes of good defense from Immaculata, Eastern added two more scores in the half, the latter of which was deflected off an Immaculata player. The Eagles took the match 4-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Addison Yackel led the team with three shot attempts.
  • The Mighty Macs played a cleaner game than Eastern with just three fouls to the Eagles' five.
  • Guthier started in net, recording seven saves in 85:32 of action.
