Immaculata Field Hockey Blanks Lancaster Bible, 3-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Three different players scored for the Immaculata field hockey team in a 3-0 victory over Lancaster Bible on Friday night at Draper Walsh Stadium. Immaculata controlled play a majority of the game limiting Lancaster Bible to just two shots.
 
With the win Immaculata improves to 3-3 overall, and with the loss Lancaster Bible falls to 1-2 for the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED VS LANCASTER BIBLE
  • Immaculata opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Abby Fekete scored on an assist from Emilyn Bivens. Fekete inserted a penalty corner, then went to the net to deflect Emilyn Bivens shot into the cage for the goal to give Immaculata a 1-0 lead.
  • Immaculata continued pressing the Lancaster Bible net, outshooting the Chargers 8-1through two quarters, forcing the LBC goalie Amanda Hoover to make five saves. Immaculata carried a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
  • Immaculata extended their lead in the 42nd minute when Alexis Andrada scored on a great individual effort to put Immaculata up 2-0.
  • Immaculata added to their lead in the 51st minute when Morgan Barnes scored on a reverse backhand shot assisted by Kayla Ledbetter.
  • Immaculata got strong play in the midfield from Abby Fekete, Kayla Ledbetter, and Jillian Vandenbraak, and strong play on the back end from Rachel Madden as the closed out their second shutout win of the season 3-0.
 
TOP MIGHTY MAC PERFORMERS
  • Abby Fekete scored her second goal of the season, which stood as the game winner. Fekete was a strong presence on both sides of the field for Immaculata.
  • Alexis Andrada scored her team high sixth goal of the season in the third quarter to give the Mighty Macs an insurance goal. Andrada had four shots on goal.
  • Morgan Barnes scores her second goal of the season to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.
  • Emilyn Bivens had a strong game on the offensive side of the ball assisting on Fekete's goal in the first quarter.
  • Maria Berenato had a game high five shots on goal.
  • Kayla Ledbetter assisted on Morgan Barnes goal.
  • Mackenzie Schrack earned her second win of the season, and Schrack and Ella Miller combined for the team shutout.
