Field Hockey Edged by Widener on Wednesday, 2-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata Field Hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision at home against Widener in a non-conference game on Wednesday night at Draper Walsh Stadium. Freshman goalkeeper Mackenzie Schrack had a career-high nine saves for the Mighty Macs.
 
With the loss Immaculata falls to 3-4 overall, and Widener with the win improves to 4-2 overall.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST WIDENER
  • Immaculata had an early chance to get on the board in the fifth minute, but Maria Berenato's shot went wide.
  • Widener opened the scoring at 8:15 of the first quarter when Kayleigh Armstrong scored off a penalty corner insert from Megan Bryk.
  • Widener threatened to extend their lead in the 13th minute, but Mackenzie Schrack made consecutive saves to keep the score at 1-0 after the first quarter.
  • Widener extended their lead to 2-0 in 28th minute when Katie Haye scored for the Pride.
  • Immaculata threatened to score late in the third quarter, as Pride goalkeeper Arwen Fifthian saved Alexis Andrada and Gabrielle O'Brien's shots.
  • Mackenzie Schrack made two saves in the third quarter, and three saves in the fourth quarter to keep the score 2-0.
  • Immaculata continued to press the Pride net but were unable to find the back of the cage as shots by Alexis Andrada, and Morgan Barnes went wide.
