IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata women's volleyball was handed a tough 3-0 loss by the Bryn Mawr College Owls on Wednesday evening.
The Mighty Macs are 1-3 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Saturday, Oct. 11 versus Saint Elizabeth.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST BRYN MAWR
- The Mighty Macs jumped to an early 7-2 lead, thanks to multiple Bryn Mawr errors. The seventh point came on an Adriana Blas ace. The Owls slowly chipped away at the deficit, which included an 8-0 run in the middle of the set. The visitors went up by two. Immaculata scored four in a row to go up 21-19, but Bryn Mawr took the set 25-23.
- Immaculata began strong again with an Emma Hodgson ace and an Antonia Antolini kill. However, an 11-1 outburst by the visitors gave them a six-point advantage. Up 21-12, the Mighty Macs stormed back with an 8-2 run to trail 23-20. The Owls would finish off the Mighty Macs 25-21.
- Lauren Gartman served an ace as the third set opened. A 6-0 Bryn Mawr run was countered with three in a row from Immaculata to tie the score 8-8. The Owls kept the Mighty Macs close throughout the set. A 5-1 stretch by Immaculata pushed Bryn Mawr to the brink of "overtime." Despite this, a service error ended the match. The Owls won the set 25-23, and the match 3-0.
