READING, Pa. – Immaculata women's soccer began the 2025 season on Sunday, as part of Labor Day weekend. A tough match with the Alvernia University Golden Wolves ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Mighty Macs are 0-0-1 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Saturday, Oct. 4 versus Centenary (N.J.).
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ALVERNIA
- Within the first 2.5 minutes of play, the Mighty Macs earned a corner kick. Gabby Palladino would attempt a shot, but it was saved.
- While the Golden Wolves saw consecutive corner kicks, the Mighty Macs kept up their aggressive offense.
- Both defenses stifled the other offense from getting too close to the net in the first half, which held the match to a scoreless tie at the intermission.
- Gracie Repici broke the tie in the 52nd minute with a breakaway goal assisted by Gabby Palladino. A save from the Golden Wolves prevented Repici from adding another minutes later.
- The match was relatively quiet until 86:01, when Alvernia tied it up on a penalty kick. Although the Golden Wolves attempted one last shot at the end, the Mighty Macs' defense held on. Sunday's match concluded in a 1-1 draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Repici, in her collegiate debut, scored the team's lone goal. She also led the team with two shots on goal.
- Gabby Palladino registered her first assist of the season.
- Immaculata played a cleaner game than Alvernia, logging seven fouls to 15 from the Golden Wolves.
- Emily Guthier went the full 90 minutes in net and recorded three saves.
