Men's Lacrosse Uses Consistent Attack to Take Down FDU-Florham, 18-13

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's lacrosse team defeated  FDU-Florham 18-13 on Saturday at Draper Walsh Stadium. David Azzarano scored four goals and added five assists, and Bailey Manion scored five goals and added one assist to lead Immaculata. With the win Immaculata improves to 3-1 overall. With the loss FDU-Florham falls to 3-1 overall.
 
With the first goal of the game, Bailey Manion recorded his 200th career point to become the third player in program history to reach 200 career points joining David Azzarano and Mike Reardon (2015-18) in the 200-point club.
 
Scoring
-Six different Mighty Macs scored goals today, led by Bailey Manion with five goals, followed by David Azzarano with four goals, Joseph Biuso with three goals, Connor Teears, Ryan Gorman, and Ben Wesolowski with two goals each.
 
-David Azzarano had five assists, Connor Teears had three assists, Jason Smaron had two assists, and Bailey Manion, Ryan Gorman, Nicholas DeFilippo, Zach Johnson, and Nicholas Dimonda each had one assist.
 
Defensive
-Matthew Ludlow made 15 saves in goal and had nine ground balls.
 
-Aidan Lawrence had four caused turnovers, Colton Rhoades had two caused turnovers, and David Azzarano, Nicholas DeFilippo, Joseph Biuso, Ben Wesolowski, Seth Panowitz, and Jake Klosinski each had one caused turnover.
 
-Matthew Ludlow had nine ground balls, David Azzarano had eight ground balls, Aidan Lawrence had six ground balls, Colton Rhoades, and Daniel Alvarez each had three ground balls. Connor Teears had two ground balls. Joseph Biuso, Ben Wesolowski, Jake Klosinski, Bradley Mead, Brian Fuchs, and Jude Azzarano each had one ground ball.

How it Happened
  • Immaculata took an early 2-0 lead as Bailey Manion scored unassisted, and Ryan Gorman scored off a Connor Teears assist. After FDU-Florham got a goal back, Manion and David Azzarano scored back-to back-to-back goals to put Immaculata up 4-1. Manion would add another goal as Immaculata led 5-2 after the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter Joseph Biuso and Ben Wesolowski scored early in the quarter as Immaculata increased their lead to 7-2. Biuso, David Azzarano, and Manion would all score goals in the second quarter for Immaculata. FDU-Florham scored the final two goals of the quarter as Immaculata led 10-6 at halftime.
  • FDU-Florham scored the first two goals of the third quarter to cut the Immaculata lead to 10-8 with 8:17 remaining in the third quarter. The Mighty Macs responded with goals from Connor Teears, Bailey Manion, Ryan Gorman, and Ben Wesolowski to increase their lead to 14-8 after three quarters of play.
  • After FDU-Florham opened the scoring in the fourth quarter, Immaculata scored four straight goals. David Azzarano scored two goals, and Joseph Biuso and Connor Teears each scored one goal.  FDU-Florham scored the final four goals of the game as Immaculata closed out the win 18-13.
