Azzarano Achieves Milestones as Men's Lacrosse Cruises to Victory over Cairn

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's lacrosse team scored 56 seconds into the game and never looked back as they defeated Cairn University 23-1 on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. Joseph Biuso scored four goals and added two assists, and David Azzarano scored two goals and added three assists to lead the Mighty Macs.
 
With the win Immaculata improves to 1-1 overall on the season, and Cairn with the loss falls to 0-1 overall.
 
David Azzarano scored his 100th career goal with 3:51 remaining in the first quarter and registered his 100th career assist on Connor Teears goal with 8:00 remaining in the first quarter.
 
Scoring
-Joseph Biuso led Immaculata with four goals and two assists. David Azzarano had two goals and three assists. Ryan Gorman had three goals and one assist. Jason Smaron, Evan Petrecz, and Bailey Manion each had one goal and three assists. Connor Teears had three goals. Jude Azzarano scored one goal and had two assists. Ben Wesolowski had two goals. Seth Panowitz, Matthew Frame, Nicholas DeFilippo, Jake Klosinski, and Gael Avalos each scored one goal.
-David Azzarano, Jason Smaron, Evan Petrecz, and Bailey Manion each had three assists. Joseph Biuso and Jude Azzarano both had two assists. Ryan Gorman and Zach Johnson had one assist each.

How it Happened
  • Connor Teears opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal. Joseph Biuso, Bailey Manion, and Connor Teears all followed with goals assisted by David Azzarano. Azzarano's third assist was the 100th assist of his career. David Azzarano then scored his 100th career goal, and 200th career point with 3:51 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata led 8-0 after the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, Ryan Gorman scored with 5:16 remaining in the quarter assisted by Jude Azzarano to increase Immaculata's lead to 13-0. The assist was the younger Azzarano's first collegiate point. Jude Azzarano followed with his first collegiate goal with 4:20 remaining in the quarter. Immaculata would take a 16-1 lead into the halftime break.
  • In the third quarter, Jason Smaron would score his first collegiate goal assisted by Jude Azzarano as Immaculata increased their lead to 18-1.
  • In the fourth quarter Gael Avalos and Seth Panowitz scored their first collegiate goals as Immaculata would go on to close out the win 23-1.
