WASHINGTON D.C.- The Immaculata men's volleyball team earned a split in their tri-match with Randolph-Macon and Gallaudet in Washington D.C. on Saturday. Immaculata fell to Randolph-Macon 3-0 (8-25, 19-25, 23-25) in their first match, and defeated host Gallaudet 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-19) in their second match.  

With the split, Immaculata improves to 2-1 on the season. 

Josh McGurl had a combined 15 kills, Joe Martell had a combined 39 assists, and Matthew Pfister had a combined 26 digs to lead Immaculata. 

HOW IT HAPPENED VS RANDOLPH-MACON 

• Set 1- Randolph-Macon used a 10-1 run to take a 16-5 lead. The run was broken on a kill by Jordan Brown. Randolph-Macon finished the first set on a 7-1 run to take the first set 25-8. 

• Set 2- Josh McGurl served three consecutive points that included a service ace and a kill by Noah Zunski to take an early 5-2 lead. Randolph-Macon responded with a 12-3 run to take a 15-9 lead. Immaculata used a four-point run including a service ace from Josh McGurl and kills from Jordan Brown and Nate Bailey to close the lead to 16-15. Randolph-Macon would go on to take the second set 25-19. 

• Set 3- In the third set Josh McGurl got a kill to tie the score a 7-7. Randolph-Macon then went on a four-point run to take an 11-7 lead. Immaculata would not go quietly, as Josh McGurl had a service ace, and Christian Lee had a kill to cut Randolph-Macon's lead to 20-19. Joe Martell had a service ace to keep Immaculata in the set. Randolph-Macon would close out the 3-0 win, taking set three 25-23. 

INSINDE NUMBERS VS RANDOLPH-MACON 

• Josh McGurl had seven kills, four service aces, and six digs. 

• Noah Zunski had seven kills, one block and three digs. 

• Joe Martell had 19 assists, two service aces, and two kills. 

• Jordan Brown had three kills, one block, and one dig. 

• Matthew Pfister had eight digs. 

HOW IT HAPPENED VS GALLAUDET 

• Set 1- Joe Martell served three straight points as Immaculata took an early 3-0 lead. Gallaudet came back to take a 9-8 lead. Christian Lee scored for Immaculata on a block to tie the score at 9-9. Lucas McNeil would serve the final three points of the set that included a kill by Josh McGurl as Immaculata took set one 25-17. 

• Set 2- Michael Prall served two consecutive points as Immaculata took a 6-4 lead on a kill by Noah Zunski and a block by Joe Martell and Christian Lee. Lee would later serve three consecutive points as Immaculata opened a 19-14 lead. Immaculata would win set two 25-21 to take a commanding 2-0 lead. 

• Set 3- Josh McGurl got a kill to give Immaculata an 8-5 lead. Gallaudet would not go quietly as they rallied to tie the score at 17-17. Immaculata was able to get a side out to take an 18-17 lead. Joe Martell served three consecutive points including a service ace to give Immaculata a 21-17 lead. Lucas McNeil served the final two points as Immaculata closed out the match, taking set three 25-19.

• Josh McGurl had eight kills, two service aces, and six digs. 

• Noah Zunski had four kills, and five digs. 

• Joe Martell had 20 assists, two kills, two service aces, two blocks, and six digs.  

• Nate Bailey had three kills, and four digs. 

• Christian Lee had two kills, and three blocks. 

• Matthew Pfister had 18 digs. 

• Michael Prall had two kills and two digs.
