Women's Basketball Holds Off Misericordia, 61-59

DALLAS, Pa. - In a tightly contested road game, Immaculata held off a late fourth-quarter surge by Misericordia to secure a 61-59 victory. Olivia Ettorre led the way with a career-high 23 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the field and 5-of-10 from three-point range, while also contributing five rebounds and three steals. Carly Coleman and Riley Cassidy each added 11 points to support the win.
 
The victory improves Immaculata to 6-2 on the season, completing a perfect 3-0 week. Misericordia falls to 3-5 overall.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED VS MISERICORDIA
  • Carly Coleman opened the scoring for Immaculata with a layup, followed by a three-pointer from Olivia Ettorre, giving the Mighty Macs a 5-2 lead.
  • Abby Grillo knocked down a three off a Julia Pohl kickout pass after an offensive rebound, extending the lead to 10-3. Grillo added a late first-quarter layup as Immaculata led 19-10 after one.
  • Misericordia cut the lead to 22-21 early in the second quarter, but Riley Cassidy hit a three from a Coleman assist and Sabrina Little made two free throws to bring Immaculata to a 30-26 halftime advantage.
  • In the third quarter Ettorre drained two more three-pointers, and Little capped the quarter with a buzzer-beating layup as the Mighty Macs led 51-37 heading into the fourth.
  • Misericordia went on a 13-0 run to tie the game 54-54 with 3:14 left. 
  • Riley Cassidy and Sabrina Little each hit layups to restore Immaculata to a 58-56 lead with 1:51 remaining.
  • After the Cougars cut it to 58-57, Olivia Ettorre drove for a layup and drew the foul, making it 60-57 with 28 seconds remaining. Immaculata limited Misericordia to just a two-point basket with five seconds left.
  • Fouled on the inbound with two seconds remaining, Sabrina Little made one of two free throws, sealing a 61-59 victory for Immaculata.
