IMMACULATA, Pa. — The Immaculata men's basketball team battled hard but came up just short in their home opener, losing 120–118 to Moravian in a double-overtime thriller.
Mandon Seapoe led the Mighty Macs with 29 points, while
Christian Chambers added 28.
With the loss, Immaculata falls to 1–2 on the season, while Moravian improves to 2–0, earning its second consecutive double-overtime win.
COACH STRAMARA'S COMMENTS
"The energy in Alumnae Hall was incredible. Any time a crowd shows up like that, you have a real chance to win. Unfortunately, we were just one possession away from making that happen. Our guys showed fight all night. We will study the film and get better from this. I could not be prouder of this group."
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MORAVIAN
- Mandon Seapoe hit a three-pointer with17:45 remaining in the first half, giving Immaculata an early 7–5 lead.
- Moravian quickly responded, building a 16-point advantage at 38–22 with 7:11 left in the half.
- Bowen Gugger sparked Immaculata's comeback with a tip-in, followed by scoring from Domenic Vacchiano, Seapoe, and Marquis Peoples Jr., helping the team claw back into contention.
- Seapoe's layup with 1:16 remaining tied the game at 44–44.
- Seapoe then nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer off the glass, sending Immaculata into halftime trailing narrowly, 49–47.
- In the second half, Moravian extended its lead to 70–60 with 11 minutes remaining.
- Domenic Vacchiano hit a three-pointer, and scoring from Dylan Crews, Christian Chambers, and Seapoe gave Immaculata an 87–84 lead with three minutes left.
- Moravian countered, taking a 93–90 lead with 38 seconds remaining. Jalen Flowers hit a three-pointer with 30 seconds left to force overtime.
- In the first overtime, the Greyhounds held a five-point lead at 101–96. Vacchiano converted two free throws, and Seapoe hit consecutive layups to send the game into a second overtime.
- In the second overtime, Immaculata trailed 118–115 with 18 seconds remaining. Seapoe found Kevin Telesford, who drained a long three-pointer with 8 seconds left to tie the game at 118–118.
- Moravian scored a late basket to secure a 120–118 victory.
