Women's Soccer Unable to Overcome Marymount Saints

ARLINGTON, Va. – Immaculata women's soccer had a tough outing on Wednesday against the Marymount University Saints. Marymount won 2-0.

The Mighty Macs are 2-7-1 for the season. They are 1-1 in AEC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYMOUNT
  • The Saints immediately jumped on the board with a goal in the seventh minute. Natalie D'Alfonso saw the lone Immaculata shot attempt in the first half, but it was off-target. Marymount had a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes.
  • The Mighty Macs' defense was tested early in the second half. Emily Guthier faced multiple shots, and she saved a shot near the top of the net. Despite the Mighty Macs receiving a few corner kicks, it was the Saints who scored the next, and final, goal of the evening. More Guthier saves prevented the home team's advantage from increasing. Despite Sam Terry attempting a shot in the 90th minute, it was saved. Marymount took the match 2-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Terry led the team with two shots, one of which was on goal.
  • Immaculata had half the amount of fouls (5) as Marymount (10).
  • Guthier logged six saves in 90 minutes of action.
